My love for plant based food started in the early 2000’s while I was living in Southern California where I was introduced to organic plant based and vegan raw food by a friend. Suffering from severe allergies my whole life, I couldn’t help but notice after switching to a plant based diet, I no longer experienced these symptoms. Not long after that I started working for a local raw food chef in Los Angeles and becoming a brand ambassador for several national supplement companies. Health and wellness became my life and mission.
I grew up with parents who were fantastic cooks and liked to entertain, so I think it was only natural that a job in the culinary arts would happen down the road. Since I started on this journey, my passion has always been to make food where you aren’t sacrificing taste for nutrition or nutrition for taste. I truly love to cook for others knowing I am feeding them something that is healthy for their body and rich in flavor.
Several years ago I was on a mission to find a grainless granola with high quality ingredients, but without all the processed sugar. Not having much luck, I decided to start making my own. Having some experience in the raw food world, I decided to make a granola that was dehydrated instead of baked so I wasn’t cutting corners on the nutritional value and absorption of those nutrients.
After three years of experimenting, I finally got it right!
I never intended to put a grocery product on the market, but due to the positive response of friends and family, I thought ‘why not?’And Happy Hippie Granola bites were born!
